  This is a very pleasant 2 mile walk through a forest on a single track unpaved trail. This is an uncommon opportunity in Central Illinois. The river is viewable from parts of the trail and the elevation changes are modest.
  
  I went in mid-July with my family, and insect repellent is advisable, as well as long hiking pants because the under growth will brush against your legs on part of the path.
